I think it's important to share all sides of this 2012 issue so I'm including these 2 articles which seems to shed more light on 2012.

YOU DECIDE...

According to Ray Mardyks, "The galactic alignment was with the galactic equator and not the center of the galaxy..."and "The astrological conjunction of the solstice with Galactic Center takes place in the 23rd century."

2012 Source Document

The oldest book written in the Americas is commonly referred to as the Dresden Codex. It is the main source of what is now known about the Maya Calendar. Due to its intense cryptic astrological nature, its message has eluded scholars and New Agers, untrained in astrology, since it was first written about in the 1880's. It is THE source document for 2012, although almost no one knows how to read or decode it.

The 2012 "end of the world" meme began when Ernst Forstemann, who is understood to have discovered for the modern world the Maya Long Count Calendar stated in the 1904 English version of his Commentary on the Dresden Codex (Full View available at Google Books), on page 263, "These large numbers pertaining to the destruction of the world are a reminder of the numbers, which on page 24, we believed were connected with the creation of the world. Thus here, too, we have the genesis and the apocalypse of all the mythologies." On page 265, regarding Dresden Codex page 74, he continues with, "This page can denote nothing but the end of the world, for which the serpent numbers have prepared the way".

2012 Myths

Do you believe that as the Sun rises on the morning of December 21, 2012, the Winter Solstice will align in the dark rift of the Milky Way and eclipse the black hole at the center of our galaxy? This is one of the more popular "myths" circulating about 2012. It is a myth because none of it is factually correct.

Some Facts:

1. It is only Winter Solstice for the northern hemisphere of the Earth on December 21, and Summer Solstice for the southern hemisphere.

2. It is astronomically impossible for the Sun to "eclipse" the exact galactic center.

3. The Sun's astronomical relationship to the center of our galaxy on December 21, 2012, is the basically the same as every other year at that time.

4. The "Galactic Alignment" of the solstices with the galactic equator occurred from 1998-2001 and NOT in 2012.

5. The "dark rift" in the Milky Way doesn't reach the ecliptic, the apparent path of the Sun in the sky, so the Sun is never in it.

6. Sunrise occurs at different times, depending where you are on the Earth.

7. Scholars are not in agreement that December 21, 2012, is the last day of the 13-Baktun cycle. The term and cycle called "Baktun" was coined by modern day Mayanists and there is no contemporary evidence amongst the living Maya of the indigenous use of this cycle. It is based on modern "speculation" about the Classic Maya use of their calendar.

Maya Calendar

Raymond Mardyks is an expert astrologer who claims that the real Maya Calendar has not been revealed to the public and that nearly all of the information that passes for being the Maya Calendar is based on modern interpretations and does not contain the authentic calendar and astrology system. He bases his conclusion on his expertise with multidimensional and multicultural astrology and his ability to read the Dresden Codex. He emphasizes that is important to understand that most of what is understood about the so-called Maya Calendar is a modern interpretation formulated by Mayanists over the last 100 years.

According to Raymond Mardyks, the genuine Maya Calendar and the astrology that it is based on remains a closely guarded secret as does the true contents of the Dresden Codex, the source book for the Mayanist interpretation. He suggests distinguishing the Maya Calendar from the Mayanist version of the calendar.

What is known about the Maya calendar originally sources from the oldest book written in the Americas, now known as the Dresden Codex. This deeply cryptic work has remained a mystery to all researchers since its rediscovery in modern times. It contains astrological secrets and prophecy regarding 2012.

Venus Cycle

Esoteric Venus cycles derived from the Dresden Codex have ben associated with astrological events in 2012, including the June Transit of Venus. Galactic astrologer Raymond Mardyks states that secret cycles involving the planet Venus are at the heart of the Maya calendar and these secrets were reserved for highly trained, open-hearted initiates. Raymond Mardyks further suggests that the Maya calendar is one application of Maya astrology and that it can be only fully understood from an advanced astrological perspective.

Galactic Alignment

This term was first "coined" in relationship to Maya cosmology by galactic astrologer Raymond Mardyks. He was the first to identify and write (1987, 1991) about the relationship of this 1998-2001 "galactic alignment" with the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 and the Maya calendar end date in 2012. According to him, the galactic alignment was with the galactic equator and not the center of the galaxy. It was composed of the thirteen equinoxes and solstices between Septembers 1998 and 2001.

In the August 1991, edition of Mountain Astrologer Magazine, there appeared an article by Raymond Mardyks titled, When Stars Touch the Earth - An Astrologer Looks At The New Age Through 2012. The few quotes below make it clear that Mardyks’ writings were the “inspiration” for John Major Jenkin’s later 2012/galactic alignment theory, which was first published in the December 1994 issue of the same publication.

Mardyks stated there, "It has also been calculated that the solstices align with the galactic plane in 1998-99. 1999 is halfway between the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 and the 2012 end date of the Mayan calendar."

"This all may very well signal a "return or Re-Turn" and a cosmic descent! What is of utmost importance in terms of timing is that the winter solstice aligns with the galactic plane in 1998/99. This only occurs once each 26,000 year cycle and would be most definitely of utmost significance to the top flight ancient astrologers. This time period and cycle is most probably encoded in megalithic structures, the Great Pyramid, and Mayan temples, etc."

“In Cosmic Astrology, the galactic center is associated with the Higher Self and other sources of "higher" information.”

Galactic astrologer Raymond Mardyks, in 1987, 1991, and later in his Maya Calendar Voice of the Galaxy book (1999) was the first to discuss the solstice/galactic alignment as one of several factors contributing to the astrology of 2012. Other factors include the May solar eclipse near the Pleiades, the June Transit of Venus and the November solar eclipse with the Serpent constellation. He is recognized as having coined this phrase in relationship to Maya calendar dates, including the Harmonic Convergence and the end date in 2012.

December 21, 2012

According to expert astrologer Raymond Mardyks, there is a complex and sophisticated number of astronomical/astrological factors contributing to this date. He states that Maya astrology is "galactic" and operates in a larger field of consciousness than other astrology systems. He recommends working with an authentic Maya calendar to develop the ability to experience the true nature of the "Galactic Wave" event scheduled for the end of 2012.

Harmonic Convergence

Galactic astrologer Raymond Mardyks says the uniqueness of this event was indicated astrologically by the position of the planets Saturn and Uranus in the constellation of Ophiuchus, the Serpent Dancer, in close proximity to the galactic center. In addition, he states this was when the pre-galactic alignment began, which concludes with the post-galactic alignment in 2012. This being the alignment of the Sun at the solstices with the galactic plane or equator and not the galactic center as assumed by many involved in the 2012 meme. Mardyks says that according to the astrological use of the Maya calendar, the summer of 1987 was linked to the peak of the galactic alignment in the year 2000 by a 13-tun cycle. The final 13-tun began then, on Leap Day February 29, 2000, and concludes on December 21, 2012.

Carl Johan Calleman & Ian Xel Lundgold

For the record: The spiraling 13-fractal pattern (13-tun, 13-katun, 13-baktun, etc.) that forms the basis of Carl's Mayan Calendar and also Ian Lungold's work with the calendar, comes without credit, directly from the book, Maya Calendar, Voice of the Galaxy by Raymond Mardyks. Ian (real name: Philip Louis Wieme) was personally given a copy upon publication in 1998, just prior to Carl and Ian coming up with the same technique together.

Maya Long Count Calendar
Based On Jupiter-Saturn Conjunctions

The synodic cycle of Jupiter and Saturn averages out to a mean of 7254 days. This is 54 days more than a katun (7200). On pp.71-73 of the Dresden Codex, there is what has been called the 54-Series (Forstemann 1905). These pages contain a compilation of multiples of 54, up until 702 (13 x 54). There continues multiples of 702, until 14040 is reached (20 x 702 260 x 54). Higher multiples of 14040 are suggested. The numbers 54, 702 and 14040 are emphasized on these pages. These are the necessary number of additional days from the mean Jupiter/Saturn synods for cycles of 1-katun, 13-katun and 13-baktun, respectively. This indicates a verifiable astronomical basis for what the Mayanists now call the "Long-Count" and specifically also the 13-baktun cycle, such as the one anticipated to conclude on December 21/23,2012. We also now have strong supportive evidence from an authentic Maya document, the Dresden Codex.

Galactic Alignment - 1998-2001 by Raymond Mardyks

The following presentation is an introduction to a "galactic alignment" that is now taking place. The physical descriptions that follow, represent a simple three dimensional model of a much more "multidimensional" event.

We live in a Galaxy. All of the stars that we see in the night sky are a part of our Galaxy. Our Sun is one of the hundreds of billions of stars that make up the body of our Galaxy.

Our Galaxy is shaped like a spaceship. An "equator" extends through the entire Galaxy and divides it into an upper half and lower half. This "galactic equator" extends through the parts of the Galaxy where the stars are the most concentrated. When we see the Milky Way in the night sky, we are looking at the higher concentration of stars that lie along the galactic equator. The Milky Way is the most direct physical experience, that we as humans can have, of the structure and shape of our Galaxy.

"Galactic Cross"

The Galactic Equator (horizontal line) crosses the Galactic Axis (vertical line) in the Galactic Center. This forms a Galactic Cross.

"Solar Cross" & "Earth Cross" The four apparent positions of the Sun in the sky, at the time of the equinoxes and solstices, form a "Solar Cross" (left).

Modern science believes that the Earth is going around the Sun. From this perspective, the relationship between the Sun and the Earth, at the equinoxes and solstices, forms an "Earth Cross"(right).

The Solar Cross is the foundation for the tropical zodiac used in astrology. The tropical zodiac begins with where the Sun appears to be at the March equinox. This zodiac is based on the relationship between the Sun and the Earth. It has no direct relationship to the stars. The twelve signs of the zodiac coincidently share the same names as twelve constellations of stars. The twelve signs of the zodiac and the twelve constellations are very different and measure different areas of the sky.

The Solar Cross and the tropical zodiac appear to be spinning in relationship to the stars. The position of the Sun at the March equinox traditionally marks the astrological age. This "arm" of the Solar Cross has been pointing to the constellation of Pisces, the Fish for the last 2000 years or so. Sometime in the future, this "arm" will point to the stars of Aquarius, the Water Bearer.
What is unique about our time is that the arms of the Solar and Earth Crosses are aligning with the Galactic Cross. This happens in 6500 year intervals.

The Solar/Earth Crosses (blue) last aligned with the Galactic Cross around 4500 BCE (left). This is when civilization, as we know it, was "seeded" galactically.

The half-way alignment occurred around 1250 BCE (center). This corresponds to when the "Israelites" first settled in the "Promised Land". The present alignment takes place between 1998 and 2001 (right).

The present alignment began with the September equinox in 1998. The first "phase" of the alignment will be complete with the June solstice in 1999. This is in preparation for the August 11, 1999 Solar Eclipse. The "complete" alignment is comprised of thirteen equinoxes and solstices from September 1998 through September 2001.

This model of the Solar/Earth Crosses aligning with the Galactic Cross is not astronomically accurate. It is offered as a symbol and a metaphor to begin accessing the multidimensional levels of the Galactic Alignment.

View From the Earth

Now let's explore what the Galactic Alignment actually looks like from our perspective here on the Earth.

The apparent path of the Sun, as viewed from Earth, is shown by the turquoise line. This is called the ecliptic or zodiac. The galactic equator, as viewed from Earth, is shown by the purple line.

The center of the Sun, at the exact moment of the December solstices in 1998, 1999 and 2000, will be precisely aligned with this "intersection".

Notice how Galactic Center is below the path of the Sun. The Sun does not pass directly in front of, or align with Galactic Center.

The disk of the Sun, at the exact moment of the December solstices, began to align with the galactic equator around the time of Harmonic Convergence in 1987. This event was also indicated by the Maya calendar, a useful tool for astrologically measuring the flow of galactic energies.

(The apparent path of the Sun, as viewed from Earth, is shown by the turquoise line. This is called the ecliptic or zodiac. The galactic equator, as viewed from Earth, is shown by the purple line.)
The disk of the Sun, at the exact moment of the December solstices, will be completing the alignment with the galactic equator at the December solstice in 2012. This is recognized as the ending date of a profound Maya calendar cycle.

(The apparent path of the Sun, as viewed from Earth, is shown by the turquoise line. This is called the ecliptic or zodiac. The galactic equator, as viewed from Earth, is shown by the purple line.)

These astronomical alignments between the solstice Sun and the galactic equator suggest the timing for the "reception" of galactic energies and codes into our system. Accessing these codes and frequencies can be done with the proper use of the Maya Calendar.

There are two popular misconceptions regarding the Galactic Alignment. One of these states that the alignment is with the Galactic Center. It is not, it is actually with the galactic equator. The astrological conjunction of the solstice with Galactic Center takes place in the 23rd century.

The other example of misinformation states that this galactic alignment occurs in 2012 and this is why the Maya calendar ends then. There are two problems with this. The alignment occurs a good thirteen years before 2012. The Maya calendar is not off by this many years! This thirteen year period is actually accounted for in the Maya calendar. This information is available to those who have been initiated into how the Maya Calendar actually works.

The 2012 date for the galactic alignment suggests that the Maya calendar is based on an astronomical alignment that only takes place from the Earth's perspective. The equinoxes and solstices are Earth events. This implies that the Maya calendar is Earth based. This further implies that the Maya calendar only works on the Earth. This view reveals a lack of appreciation and understanding regarding the true "galactic" nature of the Maya calendar. It is this "galactic" dimension of the Maya calendar and Maya astrology that makes them unique when compared with other calendars and astrological systems. http://www.myspace.com/truegalacticalignment
